JULY 2023 Newsletter
Neuse Harbour News -- July 2023
Good day to the residents of Neuse Harbour! We hope this finds everyone well. A lot has changed in the past couple of months, and we wanted to give an update to keep everyone informed about what’s happening in our great neighborhood.
The New NHOA Board Members:
Back in May we had a change over of board members. The previous board had dedicated years of service to the community. We thank them for all they have done to make our community better. As for the new board members, all volunteered as a team to keep Neuse Harbour moving in the right direction.
Each of us are dedicated to ensuring that Neuse Harbour will continue to prosper and we look
forward to interacting with everyone in the community.
New Board Members
Jeff Morgan – President
Jack Sanford – Vice President
Steven Moore – Treasurer
Francine Morgan – Secretary
Sue-Lynn Yllanes – Webmaster
The Pavilion:
Mr. David Mills has nearly completed the pavilion at the community park. He has a couple of items to install which should be completed in the next couple of weeks. We have also requested a quote from a local electrician to have power ran from the storage shed to the pavilion. The plan is to have power outlets and lights installed.
For reserving the use of the pavilion, please fill out our form at bit.ly/NHPavUse .
You can also contact the board via email to schedule the event.
Beautification of the Neighborhood:
Thirteen residents of the community helped clear the tree line next to the playground at the park. Three trailer/truckloads of debris were removed and hauled away to the convenience center. The park is much more appealing to the eye and will hopefully attract more families to use the common areas more often. Thank you so much for your time and efforts! You can expect to see more projects like this in the future. Some of those will include trimming the tree line around the perimeter of the park, trimming the walking path down to the beach access, maintaining the beach area, and laying down mulch in the entrance islands and at the end of NHB. Community projects like this help build lasting bonds between neighbors and help ensure everyone has a vested interest in the prosperity of our neighborhood.
August Meeting:
There will be a NHOA meeting at the community park on 1 August 2023 at 6:00 PM. All residents of Neuse Harbour are welcome and encouraged to attend. Lawn chairs are recommended as picnic tables will fill up quickly. We plan to have a meeting once a quarter to discuss any issues and keep everyone up to date on plans and projects, social events, and status of Neuse Harbour accounts.
We will also be asking for volunteers for a special project that we have coming up, and we need everyone’s help. Many neighbors have already volunteered to help “if and when” the time comes. This will be that time. As we have seen with the removal of the brush around the playground, many hands make quick work.
“Community is much more than belonging to something; it’s about doing something together that makes belonging matter.” – Brian Solis
Yard of the Quarter and Christmas Light Judging:
Our residents do such a fine job maintaining their homes and yards we would like to acknowledge everyone’s hard work. Starting on 1 August, we will be awarding a $25 gift card to one residence. Judging will be on the first day of each new quarter and the residents will be announced at the quarterly meeting and via the Facebook page, Weebly website and the future newsletter.
We will also be judging Christmas light decorations. The judging will be on 20 December. Another $25 gift card will be awarded to whomever puts on the best light show. The winner will be announced via the Facebook page, Weebly website and the future newsletter.
Lawn Care:
The care of the common areas was taken over by Mr. Lee Brinson on 1 July. He is a familiar face in Neuse Harbour as he maintains many of our neighbors’ yards. We welcome him and his hard work to ensure our community stays beautiful.
NHOA Address:
You may have noticed the new mailbox at the park. We are happy to report that we will no longer have to drive to the James City Post Office to check the mail for the NHOA.
Don’t worry, we did a change of address. If you’ve sent something to the old address, it will still get to us.
The NHOA address is as follows:
300 Neuse Harbour Blvd New Bern, NC 28560
